2022-2023 Season - Project #1

For our inaugural project, Classical C.A.R.M.A. is collaborating with SEARCH Homeless services--  an organization that has served the Houston community since 1989, working towards their vision of a Houston without homelessness. The main focus of this collaboration is to raise money for SEARCH and their House of Tiny Treasures. We also are performing 3 FREE concerts for members of Houston’s homeless community. Thanks to the wonderful and generous supporters of Classical C.A.R.M.A., such as yourself, there is absolutely no cost to SEARCH, or any of our future partners, for projects.

The benefit concert will feature the premiere of a newly commissioned work for violin, cello, and electroacoustics, composed by Christopher Theofanidis and Mark Wingate, as well as works by Previn, Mendelssohn, and Kodály.

There are two goals for this project:

1) To fundraise for SEARCH - all proceeds at the benefit concert go directly to SEARCH. We hope to raise funds from ticket sales, donations, sponsorship, and the proceeds from the pre-concert silent auction featuring items generously donated by Texas businesses

2) To raise awareness of SEARCH’s mission and the work they do for Houston:

SEARCH Homeless Services “pursues a mission of providing hope, creating opportunity, and transforming lives of men, women, and children who are trying to break free from the cycle of poverty and homelessness” (searchhomeless.org - please check out their website for more information about what they do!) SEARCH Homeless services’ values, as listed on their website, promise that they are a client centered organization, committed to integrity, trust, and authentic communication.
